University of Calgary Chaplaincy

Rev. Tim Nethercott
I describe myself as a religious mongrel--I was raised in the Baptist church,
spent years trying to become a Catholic, studied Buddhism and was ordained in the
United Church of Canada. I am now the Chaplain at the University of Calgary for
the United and Presbyterian churches and do some work at Mount Royal University
as well. We hold worship services on and off-campus and advocate for minority faith
groups. The main part of our ministry however is programming for those who describe
themselves as spiritual-but-not-religious. Our most popular programme is drumming.
We hold at least one open drum circle each week. We have also this year started a
drum performance group which is travelling around to congregations on Sunday mornings.
